Breakdown

  • A new PEGI rating suggests Hi-Fi Rush is still coming to Switch
  • Many assumed the game would be coming to Switch 2 after the PS5 reveal
  • Fans are cautious about a potential port, given how disastrous other ports have been

It looks like Hi-Fi Rush is coming to Nintendo Switch after all, as a new rating for this rumoured port has surfaced yet again. While a Switch 2 port would seem more likely, there’s always a chance that the devs needed extra time to make a Switch version work.

Gematsu spotted a new PEGI rating for the rhythm action game, confirming that a version for the current Nintendo Switch could still be underway. Although this could be a major misdirection for the upcoming Switch 2, it seems more likely that a version for Nintendo’s current hardware is coming.

A version of Hi-Fi Rush recently made its way to the PlayStation 5 and it was pretty fantastic, to nobody’s surprise. This isn’t too surprising since the PS5 is a pretty powerful system that can keep up with Microsoft’s Xbox Series systems.

Fans are curious about a Switch port of this game, especially since precise timing is required for a good experience and no one’s sure Nintendo’s system can handle it. Gamers are still recovering from Batman: Arkham Knight and Mortal Kombat 1 on Switch, so the fears of this port not running well are valid. Hopefully, the devs can make it run well on Switch, as the vibrant colors and unique gameplay make it perfect for the handheld system.

Hi-Fi Rush has successfully run well on a handheld before, as the Steam Deck version runs exceptionally well and makes very few visual sacrifices. Obviously, Valve’s Steam Deck is a lot more powerful than the Nintendo Switch, but this is the most even comparison we can make thus far.

When the game’s Xbox and PC port came out last year it was an instant hit, immediately getting acclaim from critics and fans alike. The fact that this game was stealth dropped after an Xbox presentation helped, as players could immediately get their hands on it.

Hi-Fi Rush is readily available on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PC, and now PlayStation 5. Could the Switch version be revealed soon? It sure seems that way.
